Log A Load For Kids Foundation
A Word from Log A Load Foundation Chair, Sherri Hansen
Happy Fall! I hope all of you had a wonderful summer.
Fall is starting, and it is time to finish up those end-of-the-year Log A Load events for your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. If you have not planned an event yet make sure to work with your State Association and children’s hospital to plan one before the end of the year. An easy way to raise funds is to hold a fundraising auction or dinner during your annual State Association meeting or company dinner.
No matter where you are located across the United States, there is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital nearby ready to help sick or injured children in their community. Log A Load’s fundraising efforts have been vital to their local CMN Children’s Hospital. Overall CMN Children’s Hospitals provide 32 million patient visits for 10 million children every year. Whether it is a broken bone or a serious disease or transplant, these hospitals are ready to provide the help and resources for these young children. Here is one of those child’s story.
Carly Kudzia – Mercy Children’s Hospital
Carly’s mantra is “tiny but awesome,” and it’s true in everything she does. While Carly leads the life of a typical second-grader, participating in Girl Scouts, learning tap and jazz, excelling in math, and becoming fiercely independent, that’s where Carly’s “typical” ends.
She is just one of 17 kids living with progeria in the U.S. Progeria is an extremely rare genetic condition that causes her to age eight to 10 years each year. Children with progeria have small stature, shorter life spans and experience heart disease and stroke, along with other conditions typically associated with the average aging public, occurring as early as 6, versus 70 or 80 years of age.
Carly loves crafting, YouTube videos, making slime, Curious George, traveling, dolls, playing school and cooking. Her latest obsession is LOL Surprise Dolls — collecting them, watching YouTubers unwrap them in videos, playing with them and making videos herself.
Donations allow Carly’s caretakers to collaborate with global experts on progeria and help pay for diagnostic equipment.
Remember that in 2018 Log A Load will be celebrating their 30th year anniversary and we are hoping to reach the $50 million in fundraising support to CMN Hospitals. Thank you for being a part of this great work.
Thank you for your generous and heartfelt efforts on behalf of children’s hospitals.
